The area that stretches south of the Yata Hills area from the northwest section of the Nara Basin that occupies the northwest portion of Nara Prefecture, the town is surrounded by Ikoma City to the north, to the northeast by Yamatokoriyama City, to the southeast by Ando Town, to the south by Kawai Town, to the southwest by Oji Town, and to the west by Sango Town and Heguri Town. The Yamato River flows south of the town, the Tomio River to the east and the Tatsuta River west.
