Geographic features

 Located almost in the center of the Japanese archipelago on the Pacific Ocean side, the prefecture has an elongated land area of approximately 170 km from north to south and 10 km to 80 km from east to west. To the northwest are the mountains and ranges of Yoro, Suzuka, Kasagi, and Nunobiki, while the eastern part faces Ise Bay and the Kumano-nada Sea.
