Geographic features

Ishikawa Prefecture is located in the center of the Hokuriku Region. The fertile Kaga Plains stretch out in the south of the prefecture, nurtured by the Tedori River which flows down from Hakusan National Park. In the north, the Noto Peninsula juts out into the Sea of Japan.
The prefecture stretches long and thin from southwest to northeast, with an east-west width of 100.9 km, a north-south length of 198.4 km, and a coastline of about 583.7 km.
