. China stretches about 5,500 km north-south and about 5,200 km east-west.
Most of China is in the north temperate zone, warm and has four distinct seasons. From south to north, there are six temperature zones: equatorial, tropical, subtropical, warm-temperate, temperate and cold temperate.
Some 91.6% of the population is Han people, while there are 55 recognized ethnic minorities.
Buddhism, Islam, Catholicism and Protestant Christianity are taught in China. Taoism is one of the several indigenous religions in the country.
