Geographical features
Zhengzhou is located at the eastern foot of Songshan Mountain and on the banks of the Yellow River, in the heart of China. It is one of China’s eight ancient capitals, historically known as “Center of Heaven and Earth”, anciently called “Capital of Shang Dynasty”, now named as the “City of Greenery”.
Zhengzhou is a national historical and cultural city, a national tourist city, a national sanitary city, a national forest city, a national greening model city, a national science and technology progress advanced city, a national dual-support model city, and a national civilized city. It is actively developing into a new energy vehicle city, a computing power city, a diamond city, a super-charging city, and a quantum city. It is also the only provincial-level city north of the Yangtze River to be named a national ecological garden city.

City Flower: China Rose
The China rose was designated as the city flower of Zhengzhou on March 21, 1983, at the third session of the seventh Zhengzhou Municipal People’s Congress.
City Tree: Plane Tree
The plane tree (Platanus orientalis), also known as the three - ball sycamore, was chosen as the city tree of Zhengzhou on December 14, 2007, by the 32nd session of the 12th Zhengzhou Municipal People’s Congress Standing Committee.
Landmark Buildings:
(1)Zhengzhou Erqi Memorial Tower
This tower was built to commemorate the 1923 Jinghan Railway workers’ movement. It is a symbol of Zhengzhou’s spirit and has witnessed the city’s development over the years.
(2)Songshan Shaolin Temple
Located at the foot of Wulu Peak in Songshan, Zhengzhou, Shaolin Temple is the cradle of Chinese Zen Buddhism and one of the birthplaces of Chinese martial arts. Its ancient and elegant architecture blends harmoniously with the surrounding natural environment, making it a precious historical and cultural heritage site for Zhengzhou and China as a whole.
