Geographic features

Shandong province is located on the east coast of China and in the lower reaches of the Yellow River. It faces inland area to the west and borders on Hebei, Henan, Anhui, and Jiangsu provinces. The altitude of the central region is higher and the highest peak in Shandong is Mount Taishan. Shandong Peninsula in the eastern region extends deep into the Yellow Sea.  The province faces the Korean Peninsula and the southern Japanese archipelago across the ocean.
