Geographical features

Located in the western part of Henan Province at the middle reaches of the Yellow River. It is encircled by Mt. Beimang and Xiong’er Mountains, and sits in the Hegu Basin of the Luo River tributary of the Yellow River. There are many ancient sites in the city including the Longmen Grottoes, White Horse Temple, Guanlin, which is the tomb of the General Guan Yu, and palaces from the various ages.
