Geographic features

Located in the southernmost part of the Tohoku Region, approximately 200 km from Tokyo. In terms of geography, climate, transportation and history, Fukushima Prefecture is composed of three parts: The Coastal Region (Hama-dori) situated between the Pacific Ocean and the Abukuma Mountains. The Central Region (Naka-dori) situated between the Abukuma Mountains and the Ou Mountain Range (an inland area), and the Aizu Region situated between the Ou Mountain Range and the Echigo Mountain Range.
