Yangzhou, situated to the east of Nanjing, located at the intersection of the Yangtze River and Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, bordered with the Yangtze River to the south and the Huai River to the north. A long time ago, Yangzhou was the traffic hub both in land and water, and nude city of Canal transportation; it is where diplomatic envoys from Japan landed on their way to Chang’an in the Sui and Tang dynasties.
